So there are police forces in other nations that don’t give all of their officers firearms. They require special training and approval to carry a firearm. Which means the rest of their force needs to be trained how to disarm someone with a weapon, including a knife.

I feel like this is something that is getting lost when it comes to the discourse around use of force. We as a society have given police officers carte blanche to discharge their weapons first and ask questions later. So many people have watched this video and said “she had a knife he did the right thing”?
