Good questions. Been too long since I read the books, but I think questions of that sort were more or less skipped over there, too. The last book I read begins with several pages of jokes about Jamie changing diapers. Or at least that’s how I remember it. Was hoping the series would make up for some of the faults in

Maybe it’s just me, but I saw “Lily’s” grimace when the guy patted her ass or whatever he did - that is, the message didn’t get by me. In that case, I don’t think the show thought it had to preach to us. We get it.

It’s a form of government. Democracies are equally capable of despoiliation.

My least favorite trope, in book or TV fiction, is the “I tried to help and it didn’t work out so now everything is my fault” nonsense. I want someone to glare at them and say, “Not everything’s about you, numbnuts.”

Maybe I am too. Overestimating the smartness. I’m thinking that Darlene has a plan - not certain that it’s working right now, but that try for the badge info was a little too ham-handed for her. Full disclosure: that was actually my son pointing out that possibility to me.

Floki’s hand - probably sulfa, from the hot spring.

Do we think it might be possible that Claire’s reference to “primitive” had as much to do with it being the 18th and not the 20th century? That it had little or nothing to do with black culture? 18th century Jamaica was not defined, except in the slave quarters, by black culture.

Well, I like the show, so I’m just going along with the occasional gags. Except: HELICOPTER???

I actually do remember thinking at the end of last season: I see what you did there, Ecbert. When he made the gift of land after ceding the crown to his son. I’m half Norwegian, half English. Sometimes hard to know whose side I’m on. :)

I stopped after The Fiery Cross. It read “premonitions of the Klan” to me. Any reason I should go catch up?

  • Frank in his dress blues at his wedding was everything I never knew I needed.

I’m beginning to enjoy how bad these reviews are in contrast to how I see the show. Which isn’t always satisfying, granted, but is a lot more entertaining. For example, in this episode I kept repeating, “Helicopter? Helicopter?” over and over again, which my son did not find entertaining. Oh,well.

This concerned me, too.

I thought it would have been a nice touch, so to speak, to have Madani wince when Billy squeezes her (they’re squeezing each other). There’s got to be a bruise under that bandage, right? The love play should have shown them being careful of it from time to time.

Just saw Thor: Ragnarok today, and am nonplussed at how the same outfit can be responsible for both. Where was the humor? Where was that marvelous magic that can take an unbelievable story seriously and laugh out loud funny, in a good way, at the same time?

The Seven, from GoT. Mother, Maiden, Crone, Father, Warrior, Smith, Stranger. I really liked the idea of the Stranger - it introduces a wild card into the mix.

Realize that there isn’t one single thing that you can tell a black person about racism. Just shut up and listen.

Tropes and stereotypes exist for a reason. Jealous people, men and women, exist. I’ve known more than a few. I’ve suffered short bouts of them myself. Women are not all one great wonderful strong creature in the same way the world over. We are people. We are subject to frauds and failures, just like other people.

From my couch I could be heard to mutter, “They kill Gorgon, I get pissed off.” (Rioting is reserved for Daryl.)
