Agreed a 250cc motorcycle would do the job too strictly for commuting but I also use it haul my family around EVERY SINGLE DAY. Not maybe once every 4 months like most truck buyers actually use their trucks as trucks.

You are taking this all wrong. There is a VAST difference between a ~$25K 4cyl truck and a $60+K full size gas guzzling truck.
