MacSparky has a good article on why he returned to Notes.app. I use OmniOutliner for elaborate notes about my readings—per Cognitive Productivity book — and OmniGraffle to take graphical notes. With OmniPresence and iCloud, those ‘notes’ sync across devices.

It is quite problematic in my opinion to think of consciousness in binary or continuum terms, particularly with respect to the declaration on animal consciousness.
