Leslie Knope was involved in local politics; she never did anything with foreign policy at that level. She wasn't for or against regime change, it was a null issue for her professionally. But her role models were mainstream politicians like Barbara Boxer, Olympia Snowe, Joe Biden and yes, Hillary Clinton.

The observation that Trump is not a "true conservative" is pretty much on-point. On a lot of the movement's key economic and social issues, Trump's lack of interest and knowledge is apparent.

Latin American history goes back before independence, and also includes the hundreds of years they spent as Spanish & Portuguese colonies. The racial/cultural identity and the national identity aren't quite the same.

I wouldn't call 70 years or so a brief period of time…

Coalition forces didn't destroy all those ISIS vehicles, that was
mostly the Iraqi Air Force and Iraqi Army. I don't mean to nitpick, but
it's important to remember that it largely isn't the U.S. version

I doubt she's officially non-Hispanic White on the census, but she's
probably much, much Whiter than most Hispanics. Like if one of Ted Cruz's daughters married a Mexican American and then tried to play up their Hispanic heritage.

Well this setting is less partisan than our own reality. But also, the fact that O'Brien-Montez won the popular vote is a pretty strong argument.

What voters? He's the outgoing vice president and a pretty old dude, he doesn't need to stand for election ever again. If he wants a continued role in public service, Montez would probably stick him someplace.

Ugh, the very idea of the show going in that direction, or giving any credence to such dumb ideas, disgusts me. I thought it was pretty clear Selina was making a jab at Montez's Hispanic credentials, not making any kind of birther reference. That she's more of an Ohioan than a New Mexican. It makes sense that the

That's the conventional wisdom, but they could also "double down" on their pre-existing characteristics like when Clinton chose fellow upper South moderate Al Gore.

Webb wouldn't get through the convention in Cleveland.

I'm spending most of this weekend driving halfway across the country for a military class because I was too lazy to organize a plane ticket, airport shuttle, and rental car.

Yeah, but all we had for any of that was Gabriel's word. Even the existence of Phillip's son could have been part of an elaborate web of lies until now.

Season 2: P&E argue about the 2nd gen illegals program (in the garage?)*

Also that was all packed into one episode, not a season-spanning arc. Things moved a lot faster back then, with Phillip and Elizabeth's relationship improving and degrading repeatedly throughout the season.

Yeah I've been saying since season 1 that they need to spend later seasons fighting a guerilla war in the post-apocalyptic ruins of a nuclear exchange.

On the contrary, I think it's in Clinton's interest for Johnson to be a quasi-viable candidate and make the debates. He'll pull more from Republicans than Democrats I think.

They've shown individual machines (the pin-ball machine, Claudia playing Pac Man). A whole arcade seems like a lot of effort for little gain, in terms of set design.

Am I the only one who's worried that Oleg just cost Tatiana her sweet new job in Kenya? Yeah she's party to some unthinkably dangerous treaty violations, but I'd hate to see someone so competent lose out on a promotion.

As a security guard, we never have days off. Public holidays are simply times when you get modestly improved pay and fewer employees to sign in or otherwise deal with. Still, it's been a good weekend. I caught up with an old buddy and went shooting, and caught up further with Brooklyn 99.
