I don’t remember how I learned the specific steps, the bridge in the maze, etc. ... probably a magazine? It felt so cool to pass that strobing line with the dot. It was years before I appreciated the necessity of Robinett’s dissidence and intention. The SimCopter e-egg is remarkably similar. It was a programmer making

Never played Red Alert, but a great great example of a precedent, but not exactly fixing an exploit. A very timely example of removing an “easter egg” is from 20 years ago, SimCopter, a hidden statement about sexual representation. I hadn't even read the comments and had the same reaction as everyone else. These new drawings look simultaneously cheap and too "polished" or something. The curse of vector animation.

Rod Lord did do "computer" graphics (including the cubic animated background of Max himself, which must have been hellish) for the series pilot movie, which was made in the UK. Once the series proper began production in the US, a different team took over, and I believe used actual computers for the imagery.

I wish they had tried to emulate some of the animation from the original show, "creaky" though it undoubtedly was. This is just disappointing. Looks like Schoolhouse Rock level of art, frankly.
