So is this an issue where the otherwise disadvantaged Wankel Dorito scores a plus?

That could also be a function of your engine design, you know the ratio of bore to stroke. My engine has a shorter stroke than the bore, thus it revs higher and is more lively. It wasn’t designed to be an “eta” or eco engine. Yours could be the opposite; longer stroke than the bore. Or a diesel :-)
You made my day. I really needed a good laugh at the end of the day. Thank you, sir!
Whichever comes with the car you like best that best fits your needs. The key part is you get to row your own regardless :-) You’ll have fun either way.
P.S. still 30-ish MPG highway at those speeds.
LOL! Probably right. It’s the country twisties I prefer, though. Makes much slower speeds feel that much more exhilarating.
Shy of 2900. N52 engine.
You are correct, sir. Miata is not the answer for me.
Six -gears for me. 6th gear makes 80-mph highway cruising a non-taxing affair.
Ah, the Starlet. Back when even Toyota’s biggest (littlest?) econo-shit-box was RWD! Good times.
That’s the guy whose Swiss bank account will soon find itself fatter by a bunch of cold and icy gold bars.
“....and Mexico will pay the new tariffs on turkey and ducks.”
Nah. Just bring back that cool-as-hell analog VDO instrument gauge panel for oil termp, oil pressure and voltage. I remember the 80s.
Ditto!
A Rocket-what?
....or on all the fake vents on their Civic Type R.
Houston’s got acres of them just parked under the sun :-)
The first version of the new Beetle always seem kind of effeminate to me, specially the flower thingy. The latest ones look fine, all wide and squat. If it only had the GTI engine in the back it would have made for a nice pseudo poor man’s 911.
There. FIFY.
