That story tho….

That tea party scene had me in tears. That little girl eviscerated the hell outta her life.
"But then again, I'm not that good at math".

Say what you will about the movie, but that is one of the best movie speeches of all time. It builds to the perfect crescendo and then "Can you dig it?!" just punctuates the whole thing.

Hey I just watched that on TCM, it was pretty good!

That coupled with the fact that Kendrick Lamar appeared on the scene since and improved upon everything about Lupe's aesthetic, enough to render him, if not irrelevant then definitely less important.

I can't agree with this recommendation enough. I was never a huge Maggie Gyllenhal fan but my God, was she amazing.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, while I was still working at Barnes & Noble a few years back. I also enjoyed Brom's darker take on Peter Pan: The Child Thief.

No whey.

But doesn't that hold him to an improbable standard? He could continue to work as a quality actor and occasional lead without ever having the career of DDL or Bale.

Apologies, I did confuse "poor" with "mediocre". Perhaps red herring was the wrong phrase, " ruse " might be more appropriate. It disguises who the actual hero and villains are in the film. I thought it had great performances and indicated some interesting questions about misogyny, autonomy and control.

What trailer was I watching for Ex Machina then? Because I don't remember any foreshadowing of a twist at all. The trailer showed pretty much what actually happened in the movie without revealing the fate of two of the three leads. I got exactly what I thought and more…

I've never seen Oscar Isaac act "poorly" in anything, he gave the perfect pitch of ego, bombast, and menace to the role. And you do know the whole "sexbot" thing is used as kind of a red herring, right?

Thank God I'm not the only one who noticed that. When his partner asked him about the hat, I thought 'Haven't you seen his hair?' Naomi on the other hand, beautiful Black woman with a great shaved cut.

But is a brother gonna twirl?
Seriously, I need to rewatch Happy Endings…

That was my immediate thought during that part of the conversation. When he told Mike that he should learn how to golf, I thought "But why?"

I was with you until you quoted "Hot in Herre". Now you're dead to me…

Yeah I pretty much watch everything with CC on and it had "poem" which is the only thing that makes sense given that he had recited that poem in the scene before…

Yeah, I thought the 2014 O's were definitely gonna go to the WS, especially after beating the Tigers but then we ran into the Royals…I still haven't come to grips with that series because I really didn't think that team was that much better. But then I remember the '97 Orioles vs. the Indians and that sucked as well…

Aren't all genies, though?

Yeah. Versus being fan of 90s Bills, 90s Indians, Roy Williams-era Kansas teams, etc. There's no release for seeing your team get to the playoffs but never bringing the title home. Another opinion I hold: is rather see my team get blown out i.e Broncos vs. Seahawks in SB than lose a close game (which I've experienced
