Those who use Chicago gun violence as a retort in debates don’t actually give a shit about Chicago’s gun violence.

This is a TERRIBLE idea. Not just because the internet exists but because parenting trends and attitudes have shifted. There were still enough latchkey kids when Home Alone first came out that you could suspend disbelief about the unattended eight year old being a matter for social services, but there’s no modern…
This one’s too easy: Kevin is brown and his parents are detained for several days by immigration while trying to get back into the USA after they realize they’ve left him behind. Kevin’s afraid to go to the local authorities because duh, he’s a brown preteen.
In corporate culture, many women feel the need to compete. It’s basically cool girl syndrome for grown ups. They are the roughest, toughest, most savage bitch at the conference table, and don’t you forget it.
Sounds like a good idea.
I dunno, in order to watch any amount of Fox News and not feel your blood boiling or your eyes rolling out of your skull, it would seem like you would have to agree with some of their racism.
Black violence: THUG, shoot to kill
Well the “Blame it on...” is actually right on time for the shooting in Gilroy.
Mine was a dude who was in his late thirties (I was barely 21) and had both an air mattress and an identical twin brother in their shared apartment. They would do like full on comedy bits together, like from vaudeville, but it’d be about how they went to some gas station and then fought over a cardboard display thing…
If you were my friend and you told me that?
I met a queerpunk art freak dude at the Ramrod in Boston back in the 90’s. His name was Luther. Red flag right there.
Fuck buddy makes this awfully specific so I don’t think I have a great one, but:
“A noun, and a verb, and Barack Obama”
Well said. I think I’m a pretty good parent, but I’m so glad I’m not a full-time caregiver. It doesn’t match well to my skill set, which is better put to use providing for my family financially. (And fortunately, allows me to afford childcare, with little thanks to Uncle Sam.)
Joe Biden would have never had kids if he had to stay home and take care of them and neither will I. Many people are good parents; few people are good full-time caregivers.
I don’t want to vote for Biden, I still hold an Anita Hill grudge. But I think 1981 is almost 40 years ago and people change. In fact, in 1981 I was just entering the workforce (granted part time) and it job advertisements (in the newspaper, only imagine!) specified jobs for men or women applicants. In NYC at the time…
Isn't the federal government paying farmer's not to plant certain crops? Why aren't we using those farmers to grow food that would feed schools?
I work for my school system and most of my kids (my students) get free/reduced lunch. I believe when people hear free/reduced lunch, they automatically think POC who breed like rabbits and don’t want to work. My town is 90% to 95% white, most of the kids who receive free/reduced lunch are white. And all of their…
And that’s why I’m once again grateful to live in Chicago where my daughter gets free hot breakfast and lunch every day no matter what our income. I’d much prefer my taxes go to feed children and end the stigma of “needing the free lunch” than spending my hard earned cash on more Cop Academies in impoverished…
Given my job, it’s not hard to guess where I stand. I think this is a clear-cut case of the world wanting to hold somebody responsible for a tragedy, whether it’s just or not. What punishment could be worse for this man than what has happened? This is not an intentional act. This is a horrible tragedy, and while…
