Oh, I agree completely; you have to want THIS one. If you do, then this is the right price, IMO. I also agree with you that these are just so beautiful. Unfortunately for me, the world is full of cars I can afford to buy, but not own!

“I’ve read that Ferrari buyers aren’t keen on examples that have over 20,000 miles on them and this one is over triple the mileage—more ouch.”
Nice price, but it also raises one of the quirks involved in buying a car like this: if you can afford to own it (not buy it; I can afford to buy it, but not own it), you can also afford to buy a newer, nicer one. So, you would actually have to want THIS Ferrari, not just any Ferrari.
I think Nissan missed the bus, as usual. These days we have the 4Runner, Wrangler, Bronco, and new Land Cruiser, all occupying this market space.
I wasn’t sure what it was called outside Europe, so I found Nissan’s global site where it says “Nissan Patrol/Armada”, so, yes, it’s the same vehicle.
I’m amazed Nissan didn’t revive the Xterra years ago. All they need to do is build an SUV on the Frontier platform, they will sell a ton. Especially since the main competitor, the 4Runner, is ancient.
Isn’t the Patrol the Armada?
with a plastic transmission pan that gets destroyed easily
all cars should have recovery points.
on the front I do not care as long as there are solid well rated recovery points. too many “off road” packages have no recovery points in the front and only the receiver on the back. The side and wheel arch cladding is what I do not like.
Nissan wants in on the offroad market?
The 530e is the real deal. Platform was designed for the hybrid portion. The 330e is kind of kludged together from the gas platform and suffers in both performance and mileage.
I’ve always been a big fan of diesels, but at this point hybrids make a lot more sense unless you are ONLY doing long highway trips. Around town with short trips, you won’t even get the diesel up to temp in the winter and won’t see the mpg advantage either. A PHEV will be electric only around town, and still get 40mpg…
If you’re looking to build your own hot rod Corvette, this is the perfect fodder.
The price seems right, but its still an automatic. I’d give this a NP if it were a manual at this price. The auto makes it a “meh” fair price, not a great deal and not a poor one.
Counterpoint: A Miata, especially a basic trim of this generation, is a very finite money pit that people of ordinary means and reasonable DIY skills can hope to successfully fill. And neglected but not thrashed or “upgraded”... you can do worse as a Before picture for either a restoration or a racing project. In…
Funny how the setting in which the car is photographed can tell me as much about the neglect this car has endured than pictures of the car itself. Judging by the weeds creeping through the driveway cracks, the dirty garage door, and the unkempt bushes that are literally resting on the canvas top, I’d say this Miata…
This is the perfect car for a certain kind of guy.
What are the odds that the crankcase is full of Motor Honey and that the bands in the trans are 1 micron thick? I’d run away from this. If it were stock, I’d be game at slightly less money.
The way that hood is misaligned should be a warning about the rest of this projects quality and attention to detail.
