Yeah, I’m not sure what people want here. It’s fine to want public health-care (you should!). It’s quite another to say “I want public healthcare and I want to eliminate almost three million jobs!”  (Coal industry jobs apparently makes up just under 80,000 -- and people went bananas...)

Like the Affordable Care Act before it, the public option would preserve the rotten system that leads to this.

i refuse to give a single fuck whenever hubz is sick, i don’t believe he is in even 1/10 of the pain he pretends to be in.

Exactly. The only part that was interesting, was after he confessed and before his death, he assisted law enforcement to understand some of the pathology of serial killers. But it wasn't because he was a good guy - he most likely craved the attention and validation, and it made him feel superior.

I feel like playing Oregon trail was a good counter-point to the saccharine sweetness- covered racism that was the Little House books. It was good to remember that these people led hard, often miserable lives and inflicted brutality on anyone who wasn’t exactly like them. I have never, ever, even once thought that

Yea, the thing that kills me is that they not only wear these weird, out-of-date dresses, but they don’t wear them how they were even back in the day. Dresses like that were made out of natural materials (wool in the winter, light muslin in the summer) that let your skin breath. They were also, you know, tailored to

Hey, you do you! I have a tiny place, and never used them with my niece or nephew who lived with me for a bit- so I just figured they’d take up space. But they exist, so people must find them useful. But then, I never heated bottles either- never bothered my kid, so... maybe I’m just a lazy parent.

Maybe the basic has always lived within, but I also desire a French manicure with a passion that I have not felt since high school.

I am tall and, currently anyway, thin (due to an exclusion diet so this probably won’t last). Tried a dress like this on recently and it still made me look and feel like a sister wife.

You guys should consider stepping out of your echo chamber a couple of times a decade to calibrate some of this stuff with, like, actual grown-up society. I’m a lefty/progressive/ally type dude but this IF YOU WEAR THIS POPULAR DRESS STYLE YOU LITERALLY COMMITTED THE MOUNTAIN MEADOWS MASSACRE is not grounded in reason

While this is 100% true, my beef wasn’t so much with PE itself (I think classes in learning about how to expand your physical self is good!) but in how it was structured: that is, the whole “public humiliation if you aren’t gifted at X” seems to be built into the classes themselves, even if you get a good teacher.

I am STILL trying to learn to enjoy exercise after the horrors of PE. Elementary school PE was all other students yelling at me during team sports and throwing things at my face. In middle school, the mental anguish of being a fat bisexual girl in the locker room and people stealing my glasses so I couldn't move was

Exactly. It’s doubly fun when the assholes are aiming the ball at your head. And you’re not good at anything physical so the teacher gets annoyed with you and the assholes get annoyed with you. I never had a more miserable time in school than in gym class. And swimming! Ugh, getting naked and having to shower before

I had to look up a picture of him. I guess 1984 was a very different time.

I was a prosecutor in Upper Marlboro for around eight years, several of which were in Juvenile. I didn’t do adult truancy much - the Juvenile Chief handled them, primarily - but I handled some of them when she needed help. My time in Juvenile was the saddest in my career, watching these young people who desperately

It’s absolutely a struggle. In California (Los Angeles at least) you wouldn’t be prosecuted if the school doesn’t accept children for early drop off. You also wouldn’t be prosecuted if there is pre- and after- school programs that you can’t afford.

I wonder how autistic people find that mentality. It seems super insulting to me. “Sure my kid might die from whooping cough, but at least they’re not *gasp* autistic!”

The anti-vax movement also has a lot to do with feelings of superiority - which is an extremely common byproduct of being wealthy and white. They think of themselves as discerning parents who care more about their children than others who haven’t done their 30 minutes of anti-vax propaganda Google research. If 99% of

Maybe he knew more. Maybe he just heard what you and I can Google. I don’t know. The last time Singer was accused, the details fell apart — it gave people and the industry a lot of plausible deniability to cling to.

Why are people blaming an fairly unknown actor for taking a job, instead of the studio who hired and paid Singer? Let’s not pretend that Rami Malek had any industry power before this movie. His credits are a cult TV show that few people watch or have even heard of, and a small part in one of the Twilight movies. He’s
