I lazy watch this show a lot (not new episodes, just reruns when I don’t feel like flipping through a bunch of channels), and I know they criticize everyone for every little thing, unless they’re children. It’s their jobs to have a critical eye. If they invest in someone who is emotional when it comes to negativity,

They criticize men who get emotional about their pitches too. They criticize nearly everyone who goes on the show actually. Also dont you think they would ultimately invest in an idea that would make them money regardless company’s founder’s gender? If they see an opportunity for making money do you really think they

That reads like you’re making it up to fit your belief that “the world is against women”.

I am thinking a little more about what you’re saying. That casting directors are choosing to have women on who have businesses that line up with traditional gender roles as it would be entertaining to the audience. This is beyond ridiculous. Besides such pitches being incredibly boring, if the show wants women to

For which movies “Silver Linings” and “American Hustle”?

Or perhaps more women have business ideas that line up with traditional roles.

In the case of Shark Tank, I am guessing it has a lot to do with the women appearing on Shark Tank having businesses based around sweets (no bakery is worth investing in unless your own) or children’s clothing. Unfortunately, it is more common for men on the show to have more innovative ideas. They typically have more

Because I live under a rock, I had never heard an interview with Jennifer Lawrence until a Fresh Air episode a couple of weeks ago. I thought she was charming and pleasantly confident for someone her age. People need to let her be.

It is because they are skinny, pretty, and white.

She’s said some really shitty things, and as far as I know, has never apologized for any of them.

I get her sticking with David O Russell because he garnered her two Oscars, but he’s got a real fetish for casting her as characters that in the original source material were twice the age she is. It’s kinda creepy for multiple reasons.

I guess I shouldn’t hate Jennifer Lawrence personally (because really - who’s going to turn down a sweet gig) but I am so over her playing 40-year-old characters with 40-year-old costar love interests. It bothers me in a very visceral way.

I think even more than that it has to do with over-saturation in the Internet age, though. It’s Hollywood and the media building up these young starlets/It girls (usually, as they don’t seem to build men up/tear them down the same way) and at some point, it becomes too much exposure and people start to fight back

Hated in an Internet echo chamber, maybe, but both are still loved by the public at large.

I think it’s more Soandso: Goddess!!! Her: EvilDemon!!!!!

Really? I was put under general anesthesia to get my wisdom teeth out (this would be about four years ago), as were all the friends I’ve swapped stories with. I thought that laughing gas was considered outdated and not used anymore.

Ricky Gervais was on Conan’s show last week and opened with an obvious swing at Fallon. It was something like, “Conan, I’m always really glad to be here because you still do a talk show. You still do interviews. You don’t just sing to the audience.”

My job does this too, only they are lectures/group discussions about business books! So not only do we lose our time to eat, but we have freaking homework beforehand because you have to read the damned book.

Every month we have “lunch and learn” at work. Lunch isn’t served, you’re just supposed to spend your planning period at a useless training..
