Inmate Aaron Webber was given free reign to run the asylum. He’s even shat on Sonic ‘06 in the “voice” of Sonic. There’s a livestream where he jokes to a coworker he’s glad he’s not the one who has to play it.

That is one of the sad declines i nthe lego franchised games, i nthe beginning the whole world was pretty much lego, now it is a nice next gen glossy level with a few legos thrown in for good measure.

The thing is -- there’s now an whole generation of fans that absolutely love the superfluous bullshit. Fans that grew up on the Sonic Adventure and beyond games and consider those to be the Good Games. So they can’t do away with it completely at the risk of losing a considerable amount of their fanbase.

Or they could have doubled down on his relationship with human women and really take this franchise to new and provocative places. Sega might still be a console manufacturer if they pivoted in just the right way.

I still don’t really understand how SEGA lost it’s way with Sonic so badly.
