The first 10-12 times I made it to Styx, the sack was always in the second tunnel and currently it still feels more likely to occur than other pathways. That has to be a deliberate choice by the devs

Clueless Hero: that might be an old joke, but it’s a DAMN good one
I have to quibble with this idea that they were extremely lucky; they were lucky in the sense they had Shigeru Miyamoto, who has possibly thought more about video games than just about anyone in the world, steering the ship. SMB2 is 100% about one extremely deep thinker tinkering with mechanics that we thought were…
LMAOOOOOOO of all the movies to have picked! Why not Annie Hall??? Or, like, Hannah And Her Sisters???
Manhattan has aged like milk. It’s gloriously shot, but that’s about the extent of the appeal nowadays
I’m playing DOS2 with some friends on PS4, and let me tell you: some of the bugs we have to deal with on console (about which Larian has implicitly said they don’t care one whit, given how incredibly slow to update they are) are borderline gamebreaking. When we first got to Arx, the game just kept kicking them. If it…
I like trophies overall to incentivize doing weird, fun stuff in games (Dishonored is particularly good at this), but I’m pretty sure I didn’t pay attention to the “level” of my PS4 ever.
Around last year, I came around to the idea that god exists, but it’s a dark god, like Mammon or Cthulu
The thing about Hades that isn’t going to fully come across in streams, is that a huge part of the appeal is the development of relationships with the ancillary characters. Dying doesn’t feel bad because you know you’ll get to update these relationships Like you said about FF7R, the way these conversations and…
Stickerbrush Symphony might be the best song in the DKC series, which is already stacked top to bottom with ringers. Kind of amazing that AFAIK it hasn’t been sampled, since I think it would be PERFECT for a lowkey jam
Eh, it’s POSSIBLE for a player to beat the game without relying on powerups. Supposedly, bosses will comment specifically if you reset all your Darkness (the persistent powerups), and again if you beat them. A big part of the game is just figuring out patterns and ways to beat enemies
It’s interesting, because while I love most FFs from the past, I didn’t really keep up with them after 12 (which I will go to my grave saying is the best FF). The friends of mine who did LOVED FF7R, but the ones who didn’t, like you and me, bounced right off the combat system. “Overly busy” is a really good way to put…
It’s worth signing up for the trial for Shudder just to watch it. Gf and I ended up watching it twice in like five days because it’s so fucking beautiful, weird, and gonzo. HIGHLY recommend, especially with some pot on the side
I wasn’t “hating” on FF7R, I just think it’s silly to paint it as a definitive GOTY when there have been so many great games come out, and others that are still slated (Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk, etc). While I will absolutely cop to hating on FF7R’s combat as being somehow both simplistic and overthought, I’ve got…
Jason Alexander is interesting because even his offscreen persona just SEEMS like he’d be an obnoxious prick, but I haven’t heard anyone say anything bad about him; a lot of Seinfeld alumni said he’s consistently gracious when, like, meeting people’s parents on the street. Hope that’s true!
Transistor has an absolutely brilliant battle system that’s also weirdly touchy and not super intuitive, married to an ok story. Bastion’s battle system is SUUUUUPER simple, with a more compelling story (IMO). Never played Pyre, but the thousands of potential interactions and endpoints sounds really cool.
Let me preface this by saying I’m a huge huge Gungeon fan, and platting that game is one of my greatest gaming achievements, but: there’s a huge difference in gameplay between those two games, and that difference is permanence. While you can set up Rainbow Runs and what have you in advance, it doesn’t have any kind of…
Oh my god I can’t wait to get to that point
Honest question: do you like Soulsbournes? Because the whole “work at it/git gud” thing is 100% the same deal there
