I really wish I could star this several times. I’ll be borrowing that. Thanks.

Yup. After the potentially fatal car crash, he allegedly left his friends, a husband and wife, in the vehicle and was transported to his house by his people. He keeps giving further insight into his (lack) of character.

I first learned of this family last year. I wept like I’ve done every time I’ve read about them since then- today’s article included. I live in Philly and forwarded the info to my godmother down South. I’m so happy to know I can get a book. This story recalls a Harry Roseland painting which haunts me entitled, “To the

Very well done, Sis! Especially after pregnancy, childbirth... and the doubters. Continued personal and professional success.

Um, well this is awkward. I agree with a lot of your commentary, but as an OG Anne (Megan Follows)of Green Gables fan, I am deeply offended that you’d mention Anne’s love of puff sleeves and Matthew Cuthbert’s glorious choice in the same breath as this monstrosity. I’m just beside myself with frustration and

Aww. Beautiful. I’m definitely still smiling.

Thanks, sis. You’ve said it all. The whole thing is painful for me even as a Black/Africana woman unrelated to the Floyds. So I tend to skim or bypass articles by White writers that seem self-congratulatory & the gratuitous, public excavation of our trauma that some Black writers do in honor of an external gaze. Evan

Nothing new; when it’s one of us who sets boundaries, we’re seen as “uppity” “entitled” and/or “ungrateful”. Had this been some mediocre white chick, the press would’ve found a way to present her as heroic, reluctant mental-health ambassador worth applauding. Never mind that she’s again like the Williams sisters

Ding! ding! ding! Having someone “know their place” eases a little of the envy around the aforementioned earnings. Thanks for your additional research. I’m glad I didn’t assume it was a man who did this.

Thank you. I’m a woman from Philly. I know we’re tough fans. However, I’m CERTAIN the person who threw the popcorn was NOT a Black person. The brothers who hooped/ran ball would have too much respect for the skill of the players even if they didn’t like him as a person. I don’t see sisters behaving this way, either.

The sense I get from Pratt’s tweet is that he’s one of those nonWhite people content to use “People of Color” and “Hispanic/Latin” when it suits him and tapdancing and virtue-signaling to White power structures to show he’s “different”. You know, the kind who others AfroLatin folk, is embarrassed by Hispanophone

Wonderful news. I hope she has a horrible, very miserable time of it and is deeply traumatized for at least triple the time of those she’s terrorized- past and present. I wish the families healing, comfort, community, safety, solidarity and true allyship.

I wish Ghanaian-American Bozoma Saint-John and her sister, Alua Arthur ALL the love, joy, success, peace, wisdom and fulfillment life has to offer. They are phenomenal people and wonderfully remarkable sistas who have traversed some daunting, excruciating terrain yet somehow find ways to inspire in their effervescent

Dr. Tressie McMillan-Cottom is a treasure.

Right? We have similar views around taboo foods, the importance of family and marriage, etc. Even some of the linguistic stuff. I’m a Black/Africana Muslim but Asalaam aleikum/Shalom aleichem, Sadaqa/Tzadaka etc., makes it all rather sad. Just goes to show none of us innately exempt from being injurious or prejudiced

Thank you for this. Continental Africans have also had to endure antiBlack/antiAfrican marches in Israel where they are also subjected to virulent racism. It’s quite sad because I always hope that those who’ve been victimized act with compassion.

Absolutely. As a dark-skinned continental African woman who’s Muslim, I abhor any and all harmful practices in any Muslim-majority against non Muslims.  Modi’s positions- past and present- are doing irreparable harm to India and the destruction will inevitably include Hindus as well.

Cosign. Modi is a bigoted Hindu nationalist whose policies/words have cost non Hindu people lives. It’s also bad for decent Hindus whose faith he’s mangling under the protection of group membership.

Thank you so much for everything you said to your interlocutor in this exchange. Your words were truthful, informative and cogently articulated. As a dark-skinned Continental African woman who has lived there and in the U.S., I’m deeply appreciative of the care and integrity of your statements. So too, the global,

Please keep at it. I’m soooooo glad your life is a loving affirmation of the goodness you deserve.
