I remember Summer Wars being quite good. Might have to give that a rewatch.
I discovered Princess Mononoke when it was a new release at Blockbuster. I was probably in 9th grade at the time. It spoke to me as a suburban teen craving my nuance in my entertainment. I was struck by the environmentalist themes with the tensions between conservation and development, old and new, spirit world and…
Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies of all time. It really envourages you to just let go and exist in the world of the movie. It’s amazing. The train sequence in particular gets me every time.
I watched Grave of the Fireflies once. Once. I can’t sit through it again.
My wife and I recently showed our toddler My Neighbor Totoro, which was my wife’s favorite movie growing up, and he went totally nuts for it. Read the interview.
Look, if every time you said the latest buzzword investors threw money at you, you’d do it to! Blockchain.
Dammit. I really thought she’d be the first person to live forever.
As sad as this is, I’m glad she never seemed to enter a period of prolonged and extreme decline like so many people her age do. She lived long and died quickly, and that’s basically the dream.
Fuck you, Death. Not cool. Betty White was a saint. If anyone deserved to be a Centenarian, it was Queen Betty White, First of Her Name, The Goldenest Girl, Friend To All
At this point he’s earned so much goodwill for his work on 14 that sometimes I wonder if he’s actually a primal and we’re all just his tempered minions.
I honestly thought the origins being a Swedish band was pretty common knowledge, like the name of the song has the word “Dansen” in it, it’s clearly not originally from Japan.
