I find it fascinating how angry this makes people! Like why wouldn’t you want the delicious tastes of meat and cheese but have them cause less harm?

I vote for Doe Donuts.

Well...I’m from Portland.

“Meat alternatives” (I just say fake meat) taste good and don’t have the drawbacks of meat that are the reason I stopped eating it, how is that intellectually dishonest? You can pry my Gardein chicken nuggets out of my cold, dead hands. Meat tastes good, things that taste like meat taste good.

I mean, delicious vegan chicken nuggets or sausages are very different from calling a piece of vegetable steak.

Fancy restaurants and hotel caterers are the worst perpetrators here. There are so many FILLING vegan things to eat in this world. If I eat a chunk of cauliflower for dinner I am going to be hungry again in 30 minutes and getting fries somewhere.

I don’t think it’s vegetarians who are trying to convince anyone to substitute cauliflower for meat...vegetarians are the victims here.

Powell’s Books in Portland is so full of tourists taking selfies that it is hard to like, actually find books to buy. If you want to actually purchase books, the smaller location on Hawthorne is better, though Portland also has a bunch of other smaller independent bookstores that are great.

I mean, vegan cheeses have come a long way...as someone who was a huge fan of fancy cheeses before I went vegan, Miyoko’s cultured cashew cheeses are life-changing.

A single portobello mushroom is also not an entree, FYI.

I love fake meat but if someone tries to tell me that a chunk of cauliflower is a steak, or indeed, an entree, I will throw it in their face. (I am vegan. ENTREES HAVE PROTEIN.)

They are directly criticizing Brawny...

I mean I might just be a dummy but...yeah I'm 31 and this is something I really struggle with.

Well stimulants don’t work well for me actually, but Welbutrin helps me organize my thoughts a little so I don’t feel like I’m constantly about to meltdown, though I'm not on any meds right now. I was a gifted kid and graduated college with honors (I can hyper focus on reading) but my ADHD led to this overwhelming

Some people with ADHD (like me) were great students. I don’t think your theory quite works.

Some of us were great students and then got diagnosed at 29, even!

I mean I would be really happy to get to $45k though.

Ugh, well this is the most depressing thing I’ve ever heard in my life. I would ask for sources but I’m too afraid.

Wait, I’m confused. You think that if you make less than 45k, you’ll never make more than that?

If our doctors had more than 10 minutes with us, that would go a long way and people wouldn’t have to depend on their own research as much.
