It’ll be interesting to see how Nintendo handles touch in the future. I would love some type of high-precision, capacitive stylus like a Microsoft Surface Pen, Apple Pencil, or Samsung S-Pen, but I think that technology needs to be baked in to the hardware?

I think we all have those weeks, and I certainly understand how sometimes “the world” I suggested you get out into is the problem, so thanks for clarifying that!

That’s an excellent example, and though I wasn’t participating and only watched for a minute or two before becoming bored (never played Pokemon, and can’t stand chat sections of any Twitch audience greater than 20 people), it was amazing to hear about the exploits and stories and themes and even factions that

Thanks, Matt for liking my Starbucks ramblings this morning! Some thoughtful comments this week, especially a nice post-Disqus turnout on the Wolfenstein II article. I was at a GameStop this evening finally getting a Super NES Classic Edition, and saw the promos for Terror Billy and the aging character on the poster -

Great call! That really popularized Machinima as a serious type of animation beyond the niches that started it, and took one type of media and turned it into another. I’d not thought of it, and really glad you did!

Good point on updating with new features, and they could do it without obsoleting the Wii U levels - adding true “world sharing”, more type-specific features like slopes, fences, more vertical capacity, and true boss fights would be great additions, and playing a VVVVVV-version of Mario (a la Galaxy) would be

Definitely Super Mario Maker! Pulling assets from multiple Mario games, unifying their structure, and allowing players to not only “skin” their games however they wish, but actually having those skins change Mario’s abilities (wall jumps, Power Meter, etc.) according to the assets lets each one retain their

I just searched for, and subscribed to, your YouTube channel! I take it I’ll be able to find it there?

I agree that it was bascially a Freudian typo, where his hands were as strong as a bear’s, hence it’s allowed without correction. Nicely played!

“Low-key kindness and melancholy” is what I’m going to use from now on to describe Hyrule in Breath of the Wild; thank you!

I love it! Doomtown looks like exactly the type of game I was thinking, and I love that it integrates Poker into the conflict, which is a lovely implementation of the Western playing cards. It would be a great way to create and balance expansions as better cards on the story side might be less desirable on the Poker

My advice: don’t go the closed-curtain-stupor route - the last thing you need is an echo chamber (I’m saying that from experience). Have you read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Deckard laments that his wife sets her mood organ to depressed because it’s made her depressed...all she’d have to do is set it to

Everything is my GOTY, without a doubt. It’s not for everyone, but the “message,” which takes a little while to unearth, stayed with me longer than anything I experienced in Breath of the Wild or NieR Automata.

I figure since the foundations of the game were without narrative, then it’s still able to be played in such a way - the narrative works in a “metagame” context more than anything else.

The other thing I really like about it is giving players the ability to create their own content from their assets - it’s a tacit “fair use” implementation of their copyrighted material. (See my other comment about the subject of this article.)

Wow, I didn’t realize that Magic was so heavily focused on a specific, developing narrative. I thought, like Pokemon TCG, the stories were simply background motivations for the mechanics that were happening on the table, and the new cards were simply a new way of expanding a mechanical system.

First, thanks to Matt for helping to spread the word for Mario Kart 8 on the 8th this week and for everyone that came out! My nephews came over and swapped as the Guest on my machine with everyone, and they had a lot of fun racing with everyone. I thought the racing was great, frankly, and so help me M

I bounced out of Shovel Knight at The Enchantress’ Entrance, so I’m with you on the limits of my platforming abilities...testify!

This Castlevania mod is an excellent illustration of how our copyright laws are used. First, we have id Software that released the engine behind DOOM to the public domain, giving anyone the freedom to build their own creative works based on theirs. It’s a great way to promote creativity, something copyrights
