Golf games making you a better golfer isn’t too weird - reading the course and understanding power range is as important as the muscle memory of swinging your arms.

Euchre is very much a regional game, and I feel like it should be taught to kids by other kids, but then again I learned it from the older kids in the hog barn at the County 4-H Fair, so my youth social circles were different than most people...and we never gambled...very different.
Given that my fear the NFL has been the “circuses” portion of what the masses have been given to ignore civic duty, it’s interesting that this conversation comes up when we discuss the videogame version of it.
Don’t forget we have a Discord channel for organizing games with other Gameologicians, sharing the news of the minute, and generally fellowshipping on games.
Nicely written. This captures what I fear online games are, only knowing them truly by the bad experiences and anecdotes, and rarely any good ones.
I don’t have Art Academy, but you might have talked me into something with more structure. Or maybe I just need to practice more and not be afraid to make something ugly. Or maybe not be afraid to try the same thing over and over because every fine artist did studies...
I love the way Shinigami Apple Merchant can make those games we got so frustrated with as kids and make them feel special because of, rather than in spite of, their design. I loved Space Quest; the humor in a science fiction setting was important to make me feel like I was getting a worthwhile narrative-I never felt…
I’m glad you found those Art Academy Lessons! I went straight to Colors3D!, thinking I could just practice my way into drawing something cool, but it didn’t provide me with the motivation to try anything specific. The best part of Colors3D, though, was the transparencies on layers means you can eschew the 3D…
Best of luck dealing with your work, as dealing with such uncertainty so close to the time you have to act on it makes it feel all the more panic-worthy. It’s good to know they do value you, in that you mention they can’t just fire you, so at least you have that level of comfort. Take the rest in stride, and always…
Yeah, I was at the point where The End was going to be just that, but once I made that last push, I’m OK again...though getting through Shadow Moses Groznyj Grad feels daunting right now, so I’ll briefly savor my progress...
Good to hear about your Samus Returns experience! Best of luck, and if you want to try hiding spoilers and you’re posting on a PC (or Request desktop version on mobile), you can try the little “Aa” dropdown at the top, highlight your text, then put it in “Code” text format, then strikethrough the letters:
You guys played 200cc this month?! Awesome! Glad you had fun, and welcome to the club! Thanks for reporting, as this helps push us closer to swapping dates for MK8 and MK8DX...
My condolences about your family’s loss. It’s always good to gather and share the bonds you have with those still here, and form those new ones with the next generations that are always arriving! We all get a turn at it, and we can only hope someone will mourn when we go, because it at least means we had a positive…
Actually, I’m going to keep going on MGS3D! I just wanted to finish before the end of Summer, but I failed...I will bounce around more, though, to other games and take the focus off for a while. I just made it to the Shagohod Base, which is an excellent stopping point, but I’m nervous to quit and have all that good…
…Thanks! I never found the crocodile hat, didn’t really find a pattern to place Claymores, and saw his parrot in the first two minutes, but captured him thinking he would act as a spotter! Little did I know it would allow me to spot him, but only after the fight did I figure out how to equip a live animal as a weapon
It’s amazing that it’s been SIX YEARS since the 3DS convinced me AR was close to being a viable toy on a mobile system (EyeToy backs that up even further). I suppose eliminating reference markers has delayed things a bit, but it’ll be interesting to see what games could do with it, though outside of your Animal…
I agree. Having that game simply appear might have shocked too much to get people used to it. Nintendo plays so far in left field that it’s sometimes better for them to announce things in pieces.
I think with Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime coming out on Switch, my need for something like Sea of Thieves grows even dimmer. I have enough trouble coping with online multiplayer. I still think Cuphead will be fine, but it’s definitely going to be niche...the Kickstarter crowd doesn’t scale much outside of that,…
The good news is there are “private servers”, but it’s certainly not the same, splitting a few dozen or even a few hundred players out over 400,000,000,000 stars is still a pretty solitary experience...
I had forgotten about a place I used to frequent out in Alliance Space about 150ly from Sol. It was an anarchy system that was relatively uninhabited and had no rares, so it was perfect to keep a low profile. I think I’m going to pay to have my ships ferried out there, get away from Founder’s World for a while, and…
