Ah, you are totally right - you have to LOVE it in order to put up with it, but it's sorta like a familial love - rather than that "deep infatuation" that can't last once you know the truth…

Growing up on the farm, my brother and I found a baby raccoon in the haymow of the barn, and he was hilarious - rode in the back window of the car, leaped spread-eagle off the couch trying to jump into our hands (which were WAY too far away, but would chirp with enjoyment and try again anyway). We raised it from a kit

Excellent game developer advice. The core value behind that advice is to show companies the love and ambition for what you do, and that you are willing and able to treat it as work.

Potentially, as I think Sega Genesis was one of the first that was truly sold below cost (if I remember the story in "Console Wars"), but they did at least tend to sell them on razor-thin build margins, well below the "standard" 100% markup (that helps handle all company infrastructure expenses as well).

The reason was that 3DO thought they would license the hardware and sell the software, meaning the hardware manufacturers had to make a profit on each unit sold (rather than make it a loss-leader for the software).

I've never played Planescape: Torment either, so I'm with you, and my schedule means finding time to dig into it properly (being so conversation heavy) is going to be difficult.

I love that hooded cloak, and wear it any time environmental conditional allow.

I'm going to admit right away - it's still shrink-wrapped - but I've played the demo, which is available on the eShop. It's an FPS style with second-screen elements that force you to care for both, adding to the suspense. I am NOT a connoisseur of horror games (Gone Home was at time more than spooky enough for me),

The Zelda faceplate set me back more than a game, but I justified it because it was only about $10-15 more than the faceplate would have been retail - so the opportunity cost is more akin to a small digital game like BoxBoy.

Google Image Search is so efficient that it's too much trouble on your end for saving too little trouble on mine. Thanks for at least considering it, and am not offended in the least by admitting to being lazy; you're still OK in my book.

Good call! I like those because they're fairly short, clear, and get to the point.

If you want non-text-based media, I will second the Dev Game Club podcast, as it's two (former?) developers talking about games they love with the context of their experience working on AAA games. They are so long form, they will take 2, 3, even 5 episodes to cover a game, and always wish they'd added another…it's a

Wow, that's really a great idea to use sound to help reduce the disconnect between visual perception and other physiological cues in 3D games, especially since the auditory system is so close to the vestibular system.

I'm glad I bought ZombiU on sale during my Nintendo Double Down, because it'll give me my horror fix without having to scrounge a copy of the good editions of Resident Evil, especially the excellect Gamecube version.

Nothing beats a well-worn cloak. Clint Eastwood in the Dollars Trilogy (though more of a poncho), Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars Trilogy, and most Assassin's Creed characters pull it off well,

Sounds like my kind of game! If Federation Force had interchangeable parts or visible MODs instead of just "paint jobs", then it might have been a little cooler. It was a shame some paint came with abilities and some didn't, because there's no reason to NOT use those few functional skins.

    I don't play it, but I'll listen…

No worries. I wasn't sure myself, but I knew the alcohol content was very low, just enough to improve potability. It wasn't for "entertainment" like high-content alcohol (and caffeine!) beverages are today.

The 32X was the best home console version of Virtua Fighter however, and the first texture-mapped 3D game on a home console, Metalhead.

I let this thread go because of work, expecting someone to mention Chu Chu Rocket, and I get home tonight to be disappointed.
