As excellent a place as any for our Switch-owning Gameologicians to discuss organizing an Event. I look forward to someone leading the charge with the new system, and let me know what I can do to help (with the understanding that I won't have a Switch, of course).

I'm not planning on a Switch any time soon, but I'm also willing to help anyone that wants to host one with promotion. Having two concurrent ones is not necessarily a zero-sum situation, so if one is made at the same time, I can imagine there will ultimately be an audience for each.

I had the same experience. Even if I didn't get attached to the people, the random escalation of difficulty, even on early encounters, prevented me from gaining a mastery of controls. Starting over felt disheartening, especially after I'd put over an hour into a single round.

So did I. Those "dying" conversations might have well been done in muted trumpet for all I cared toward the end. It's a shame, as the dream sequence was one of my favorite game narrative sequences ever - on par with Gone Home and Braid at generating pathos through play.

Especially what was the last terminal for me…my wife was watching me play, and she had to hear me talking myself into making that leap out loud…

Yeah, there's a realism in the game that defies all of the magic that's really holding the narrative together. And they wonder why it's so common to argue about superheroes…

I didn't figure that out until the boss inside, so yeah…tricky. It took me a long time to replenish my resources after that. I was even using up special effects just for the extra hearts.

Black Flag's story wears you down, and I finished the story without ever defeating a legendary ship. I liked the forts, though, as they were a fun challenge.

I did the Gerudo "takedown" to enter in about 30 seconds after we reached it, and felt the boss was super easy, while the Zora one I did first was pushing 10 minutes just to enter, so it's definitely a "feel" thing, I think. Frankly, I forgot that the map is also the controls (for those reading, that's not a spoiler,

First of all, a reminder that "Guest Race Director" Venerable Monk's "Enthusiasts vs. NEEEEEEEERDS" Mario Kart 8 on the 8th event is tomorrow night at 8pm Central US Time! The code is: 0699-6646-7941 and you can chat with Venerable himself on the Discord Group: https://discord.gg/n7NWB9R . Which side are you on? No,

Also, the camera's ability to understand gestures could mean it can track your finger or hand as the pointer as well. Good to hear World of Goo has the "motion plus" functionality.

I didn't realize you were in Europe - Yeah, between Whovian, Doctuar, and a few others, an "East Atlantic" competition might be in order!

I'm imagining the IR camera in JoyCon R is a trojan for Wii-like pointer controls at some point.

We would clean house in Perfect Dark, though! Kids these days couldn't handle the glacial pace, muddy textures, low-resolution (split screen as 320x240? really?), and single-stick controls, so we'd have the advantage for the first 20 minutes or so.

Don't underestimate their experience with games like Nintendogs and Animal Crossing. They may not be completely open world, but they are open ended, and you can sense aspects of them in this game. Petting and feeding animals to encourage cooperation? Check. Collecting apples and durian and displaying gear and clothing

It will have to be like those rubbery, stubby things for phones, as the screen is not resistive like all previous Nintendo touch screens, but capacitive. At that's only in handheld mode - it's a different story when it's in the dock.

Should there be enough interest, we'll need someone to create a concurrent tournament (it doesn't have to perfectly overlap in time, but it's easier to keep organized if it does - I don't see it as a completely zero-sum situation, since many people here are buying a Switch that didn't own a Wii U). I very likely won't

Good rule of thumb - if the item in question does not have an "Eat" option highlighted, don't put it in with something that does. Those are usually best reserved for elixers.

I will always have a special place in my heart for the Angels, mostly because I remember when they were owned by Gene Autry.

We're planning on seeing their home stand against the Brewers in a couple of weeks, but the Phillies games should be interesting, as the Reds likely aren't going to be competing for even the top half of the Division.
