No it isn’t. You can buy unlined copper pots and mugs no problem in the US. The FDA states that foods with a PH below 6 shouldn’t come into contact with copper, but still can be used. Candy makes use giant copper pots all the time.

I almost had A5 Wagyu once at a bachelor party in Vegas. We order some of it for the table cooked on a hot rock, but my drunk friend Glain scooped up EVERY SINGLE SLICE with one quick swipe of the chopsticks and dropped them into his gullet like a pelican with a freshly caught fish. Just about all of the pizza books/recipes i’ve specifically say not to cook the pizza sauce as you will be cooking it on the pizza itself. Though I guess this would be closer to like a chain restaurant pizza sauce.
