Meh, I never called it a “black” accent. I grew up in a largely Latino community and accents there were similar. I think she grew up around the accent and took on those around her. Doesn’t have to come from her parents. American’s raising children in Britain often have children that speak in a British accent.

I think there’s a difference between her growing up around the accent and getting it herself vs Iggy who isn’t even American who puts one on only for performances.

The premise does seem to fall on a lot of stereotypes that we definitely don’t need right now but one thing that seems pretty awesome (if the trailer is any indication of anything, which is may not be) is that both Spanish and English are used throughout the script like many American households.
