Actually, I've skidded because of the split cabling. Wet metal plate in the road. One hand busy signaling a turn. One hand lightly applied brake (when I saw at last minute that the plate was wet. :( I probably would have skid anyway, but it wouldn't have been as torqued on the way down.
I love the idea of lights, brake lights, racks, and turn signals being standard on every bike — there's no good reason why they shouldn't. Hand signals are useless (I usually just end up pointing in the direction I'm turning as it's much more direct). I'd also love to see them get rid of the front-wheel, back-wheel…
Fantastic art! Let's hope the show is as well done.
I thought the Car Talk guys proved that for every hour you extend your life by exercising is equal to the time you actually spend doing exercise. Net gain = 0 hours.

I love my Aereo. My office is in midtown Manhattan and even though I'm only blocks from a bunch of broadcast antennas and I could never get any reception with my digital antenna. Aereo was always super-clear.
Most people want to be close to their homes, no matter how ruined the property, lest looters take whatever is left. It's also exhausting after a day of hard cleanup to have to commute back to a shelter miles away.
My brother was with GM for nearly 20 years. He started out as an engineer, completed a bunch of additional degrees, and then was transferred into GM proper. They had him on supply chain stuff and flying back and forth to China. GM would quietly set the Chinese companies up with all the equipment they needed to make…
Awesome! I've always been curious about that "Cake" button on my Zojirushi.
I was on a high-speed ferry going from Seattle to Victoria. The captain made an announcement that the verdict would be coming up and tuned the TVs in the main seating area to the news station. Just as the verdict was ready to be announced *zzzzt* we lost the signal. The whole boat let out a collective groan — which…
