If you take pictures of a crowd without highlighting individuals too much in an obvious public environment you don't need their permission to publish these. If they happen to go to such a culturally important and very public event like the E3 they tend to know they left their personal privacy for good.

Well, you would be certainly right, but considering all these countries listed above also named their Shepards with these names, I don't think this is the mainpoint. All these names are definitely influenced by american popculture - of which ME3 is part of.

I don't think anyone complained about too much story, but about the story being told extremely confusing. Two different shoes. The Halo series has a similar problem: No one understands what's going on, because the whole story was written in innuendos.
