Some people see OEM and run the other way, see OEM anything tires that come on most cars. I know the Goodyear LS2's were god awful while they lasted on my car. Replaced them with “Cheaper” Continental Extreme Contact DWS and I am much happier with the their performance.
For a younger buyer of a $35k+ car, adding to that a healthy increase to their insurance premiums, a hit to credit (which isn’t that major to begin with) for pulling a new card is the absolute least of their worries.
