Most folks from the mainland US have never been to PR and, consequently, have no concept of just how poor that island is. Beautiful, but very, very poor.  It is long past time to either make them a full state or cut them loose. The current system ain’t working.

It’s not a mega-hit, but my family is totally hooked on Neil Patrick Harris’ Lemony Snicket show (which is Netflix produced).

It’s not my field, but I’m fascinated by human behavior, especially cases in which people are ignorant or oblivious of societal norms. The idea that an academic would think that this kind of behavior, which is way outside the norm for everyday life (much less an academic conference), is okay is very intriguing to me.

I haven’t seen the pictures so I can’t comment on them directly. It sounds like there were a lot of gratuitous bikini shots for a talk about turtles. I mean, if you’re having an academic talk about turtles, cropping out the people seems like a good idea. If nothing else, it lets you show bigger pictures of the turtles

I guess I’m supposed to hate Amazon. At least that’s what this site tells me. But I need a suitcase and I just bought a 4/5 rated one at a 60% discount and that makes me happy.

The working theory seems to be “it’s Brazil, nbd”. I should add that I’ve never been to Brazil so I legit do not know if these are serious comments or just jokes.

It sounds like he really deserves to be embarrassed on an international stage.

I’m an academic (CompSci) and I cannot wrap my mind around any of the details I’m reading. I’d like to see the pictures because I’m legitimately curious about what this guy did.

As I said (I think...) in one of my earlier messages, the things that get marked one way or the other always baffle me.

Listen, here’s what I’m telling you, as a government contractor who does cyber security for a living: gross negligence is not at play here. Gross negligence is “whoops, I left a disk with classified data at the bus stop.”

Okay, so the fundamental question: did she know she had classified data? I have no idea, but I agree it’s a strong possibility. Should she have known? Without seeing the actual (unredacted) e-mails in question, it’s impossible for me to say. She says she didn’t. Is she lying? Maybe (I think probably). Can the FBI

If you’re going to call me out, include evidence. Because my reading says exactly the opposite. Three e-mail chains had (C) in front of a few paragraphs; none of them had full headers. That’s per the FBI’s report. But maybe I missed something, so feel free to send me a link to a reputable website citing an actual

“... but she broke the law.

I’m going to assume you’re not being a troll. Please don’t prove me wrong.

I agree with this totally.

Certified diver and father of three small kids here.

I came here for Borat posts and was not disappointed.

Not directly germane to this discussion, Kim has been known (literally) as a charlatan in the InfoSec community for years.

I mean, this is a complicated case.

I’m in your same boat. I don’t have a degree in economics, so I don’t have a camp on the whole trade-war topic.
