Right, but if you describe it with the technical jargon of music composition it sounds smart

Absolutely true. Every other sentence of a Stereogum article has to include the word ‘banger’, and their commenters literally can’t talk about a song without using it
Thank god I was worried we ran out of superhero IP
And all the while AV Club was nonstop slobbering about the genius of Louis CK, credible rumors about CK’s actions were circulating. AVC wouldn’t touch them. But now they condemn Elle Kemper for not knowing a pageant she was in was racist 20 years before she was born
Yep. And AV Club’s former lead tv critic and current Vox wokescold Emily St James called it “a fascinating half-hour” and praised it for the insight into the mind of someone who would consider an act of sexual violence. Wonder if St James still feels the same now
Sounds legit.
And needledrops! Lots of needledrops. Have they ironically used ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ yet?
They’re still doing this?
I give Fast Times the nod–outside of the lead couple, Valley Girl has some poorly integrated/pointless subplots that make the whole thing a bit of a narrative mess–but either are far preferable to Hughes’ fantasies of suburban conformity.
“Glittering with ’80s nostalgia”
Whatever, I want to know what she says about Ariana Grande. Supposedly Sam & Cat fell apart because they couldn’t stand each other.
‘Waiting For A Star To Fall’ is better than anything Warren or Beyonce has ever done.
Yes, the opening paragraph especially sounds like a PR agency’s voice.
‘I agree with all your points but still think you’re biased about...something’ is an interesting take
I mean, Diane Warren’s written #1 songs by herself, no samples needed, but Beyonce needs 24 people and apparently a truckload of other people’s music to write a track? If I were Warren I’d be bragging.
Ebersol saved the show and reasserted it’s relevance–yeah he had a lot of fortune and help from Eddie Murphy, but he kept it going post-Murphy as well. Michaels almost completely tanked it again when he returned. I think someone else can handle the reins.
Perkins is gone tho
I think at this point the moment for Fey and Poehler has passed. (As has Conan O’Brian, my longtime post-Michaels pick.) Meyers maybe, since he’s still part of Lorne’s late-night empire. I would guess they’d go with a Dick Ebersol type, someone with background in tv rather than comedy.
I mean seriously AV Club’s page views would drop precipitously if SNL were canceled. It would be the final nail in its coffin.
I feel the same way about The Simpsons.
