Thank you for writing this. Whenever I’ve been on the receiving end of sexual harrassment, I get the double - whammy of guilt. The first wave of guilt is usually me going back and evaluating if I encouraged/deserved it. The second wave is me feeling guilty for feeling guilty, as I know better.

Are you there husband?

These photographs are very Kate Chopin, The Awakening.

I experienced a similar situation as an assistant editor of a fledgling health-through-martial-arts magazine in the 90s. When I was piped aboard, I was told that every issue has a centerfold celebrating female martial artists. Looking through the magazine back issues, I noticed that each female martial artist

I believe she’s overly exaggerating ... I’ve never had an infection from my IUD, nor has anyone else I know has ever either.

You seem determined to be angry.

... I didn’t say that your comment was in any way going to harm the IUD industry, and nobody is attacking you. I simply said that the blanket claim that “most women” will get BV as a result of getting an IUD is false and alarmist, and kind of harmful in a commenting space that is meant to discuss our experiences with

I have never heard of the BV statistic you’re mentioning, and I have an IUD as do all of my friends. BV should actually have nothing to do with IUD insertion unless you already had an infection that was not addressed at the time of insertion.

because “most” is inaccurate. maybe “some” though, and so maybe it should be mentioned.

I'm glad you found success with it! My body has never agreed with various medication or procedures. Many trips to the ER probably is keeping me from trying new things. I'm glad we live in a time with so many options though! I know condoms aren't ideal, but my husband and I are always so careful, and we try to keep a

I got my Mirena in March, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Insertion was somewhat uncomfortable (think a sharp period cramp for 30-40 seconds), but after that I was fine. Plus, my boyfriend felt bad that he couldn’t go to the appointment with me (work), so he bought me an ice cream sundae and a box of Cheez-its afterward!

My OCD has the biggest boner right now.

I have worked in shelter medicine on and off for a large chunk of my adult life and I want you to know that you are the type owners I love and respect. I had people turn over their dogs for reasons like “My new boyfriend doesn’t like him” or “she doesn’t match the interior of my home” and the perennial favorite “I

I’m sorry for your experience with your dog. I have a friend who fosters Great Danes who just recently had a similar experience - he had found his forever home, but she was watching him over a weekend while his new family was out of town, and at the very end of his stay with her he attacked and almost killed another

My cats bite and claw me everyday. I deserve it because I’m alive.

I skimmed over that part because it was making me ragey.

Exactly. I’ve been divorced for 5 years now, and people still ask me when I’m getting married again. Oh fuck that nope. I’m not bitter, I enjoy relationships with men, I just don’t want to be married. I have different life goals now. Sometimes my life goals include lying around in my pajamas alone all day.

Aw man, I was 32 when I got married (3 years ago). But my husband was only 27. So can I assume I am more likely to get divorced than he is?
