I have a Jetta with the 2.slow. A 5 speed manual makes it tolerable to drive, but it’s made me take a Zen approach to acceleration. Zero to 60? Eventually. At least it’s reasonably smooth, and it’s about to turn over 200k miles with no major issues at all.

I learned to drive in an ’80 Mustang. Four cylinder, automatic, two-tone blue and white with turbine-style hubcaps, no air. Things I remember:
