Washington has ended auto emissions testing. Their rationale is that cars made in the last 15 years are clean enough.

My first car, an ‘80 Chevy Monza that I bought in 1987 had them. GM had been equipping cars with radials since 1973, but the cheap old man owner I bought it from put them on. I put on new shocks and paid for an alignment and almost had the front suspension rebuilt before I replaced those hockey pucks with radials,…
That’s still 1/3 the average annual wage at the time, and they were paying 14% interest on car loans.
As Americans we have no room to talk.
But certainly not great tires.
Yeah, I did Nazi that coming. I’m Goering to give him a star for that.
I am 53 years old so yes I lived through the ‘80s. Things got a lot better after 1985 when EFI restored performance while meeting emissions standards, and turbos boosted small engines while still meeting fuel economy standards.

I am a TSA officer. There’s been about 40 COVID cases among the officers at my airport, with one death.
When the world’s sixth largest economy sets it's own standards, GM will gladly comply to access that market.
I don't have a problem with paying taxes to support a First World infrastructure and services. I do resent all the tax dodges that the rich have that the rest of us don't.
In Philly stealing renewal stickers was such a thing that the state gave drivers a special card that they kept inside the car.
“That is... not the case with this fella. He may have saved $3,600 these last 30 years avoiding a renewal, but he’s getting the full fine. A mere $110 seems pretty paltry when you consider the fact that this vehicle has probably been uninsured for the past few years, if not during the entire 30 years.”
