That would definitely creep me out. They sell activated charcoal at pet food stores, you could see about rigging some up to filter the water that goes into the tank — I think that's its original purpose, although it can also be used to filter shitty vodka into drinkable vodka. But it can't get rid of everything.

Starred for the username.

Russia is big on bottled water too, but at least in St. Petersburg, a lot of residence shun drinking the local water because it's so dirty and can mess with your teeth. I think it depends on where you go in the US as to how much bottled water consumption you'll find. Where I live, it's either for outdoor stuff like

That’s not blackface. That’s shiny glittery alien face. Isn’t it kind of insulting to POC to decree every instance of a literal darker skin tone “blackface”? Cause that color of skin does not occur on the natural spectrum of human skin shades.

Yeah, I think of the spoiled sort of manipulate, not ‘let’s manipulate the environment and see what happens’. That’s just baby stuff. But people who are convinced that their kid will never try in school or get a job if they pick them up every time they cry...yeah, that’s not a thing.

Well, you do need a certain level of sleep to function, and you have to be able to function in some capacity to take care of a baby. If you can sleep while holding them, more power to ya, but you do what you need to do to be a good parent. if that involves letting them cry it out a few times so you can sleep, so be

Was it the child manipulating, or was it really the mother creating the dynamic? When I see stuff like that I remind myself to take a second look, and I have yet to see a baby that little manipulate a parent who wasn’t actively creating the situation themselves. Babies, psychologically, just need to be cared for and

Generally, babies under a year don’t have the mental mechanisms to manipulate people. They’re used to a schedule and might react over a change in that, but it’s not being spoiled, it’s a disruption in their routine. Babies are basically larvae in ways, we project too many of our adult reactions and feelings onto them.

Every baby is different and every parent is different. No parent should feel guilt on top of sleep deprivation if they don’t believe in crying it out or can’t bring themselves to stick to it. Similarly, if letting your kid cry it out worked great, good. What it boils down to is making sure parents can get some sleep,

The charcoal does, I think — I know you can use activated charcoal to filter shitty vodka into okay-to-drink vodka. Every hotel I've stayed at, especially in the deep south, has had bleachy-smelling water. I drink it anyway, I'm an uncivilized beast, but it's definitely noticeable.

I'm talking about if someone comes to my house, I offer them a glass and they side eye me. Like sparklipoo, I'm just going to have to tell them it's home brewed artisan water.

And please note the several replies I already made explaining that this is exactly why I specified what kind of place I live in, and that I'm talking about people who come to my home and refuse tap water that is perfectly safe to drink.

That's how I see it, although I usually have tea or something on hand just in case since I try to be polite. But people live for a really long time where I'm living right now and I think the mountain spring water is part of why.

Yeah, I'm pro-fluoride, a lot does depend on genes too. And lifestyle. Let's go interrogate this mystery man about his water theories :)

I never said those words, I said there are aspects of the bible that I believe are true, and that I believe that to be true of almost all holy books. I never said it wasn’t a work of fiction. The two are simply not comparable.

Can I take a moment now to mention that I also don't understand the appeal of lawns? I appreciate a nice yard as much as the next person, but people who mow daily and get super attached freak me out.

tell them it's home brewed artisan water

Because it’s false equivalence. Wars have not been waged, people have not been killed, and history has not been made in the name of Forrest Gump.

That can be a problem with spring/well water too, you just have to use fluoridated toothpaste. Also, maybe this is just my tin foil hat talking, but all that disposable plastic...how can that possibly be good for you? I know, I know, we use and eat things that come out of plastic all the time, but I'm just wondering
