I always viewed it as a man explaining something that’s seen as stereotypically male - eg, a man condescendingly telling a woman how best to change a tyre.

Maybe it’s because you’re the only group in society who are actually empowered by appearing victimised and who are used to being the centre of society, and thus see other people having problems as a direct threat to your own wellbeing because it risks limiting your power.

Non-American here. I suspect the reason most everyone in the comments is so rectally-inflamed is because they’re American, and superheroes are a uniquely American myth that is quite toxic, misguided...and born out of their own society:
