“We spoke with a victims mother who thought we should have armed personal, so you see, there’s a lot of people on both sides.”
“We spoke with a victims mother who thought we should have armed personal, so you see, there’s a lot of people on both sides.”
I just had a debate with someone about this. Their point was that arming the teachers was the only effective strategy, because shooters don’t attack well armed places like “police stations or the national guard.”
I agree with that. It’s just easier for the GOP to come up with very specific wackadoo solutions like arming teachers than it is to admit that maybe, just maybe, we should think about the possibility of increasing regulations on weapons.
“There has to be some form of major retaliation if they are able to enter a school... cause if that happens, you’re not gonna have any problems anymore.” [Emphasis mine, yes I’m cool]...
The question we should be asking is how much of your finite energy is a child’s life worth?
$earch for an an$wer and one may $how it$elf.
“Do you believe your father’s accusers?”
We discussed it.
Democrats calling for a ban on all guns are the liberal version of conservatives saying that guns aren’t the problem and teachers should be armed. It’s unrealistic and gets us nowhere.
It’s an odd one. It’s better than nothing, if it actually happens. But it’s also a much lower hanging fruit than AR’s and other automatic weapons, which in general are a much bigger issue. So yes, banning the bump stocks is a positive step, but it’s also to take attention away from the AR issue.
It’s a double edged sword. You can argue that everyone should have to vote. In America, it’s by choice. More people should vote, absolutely. But when people voting are uninformed or ignorant, it doesn’t necessarily mean the system is working better. If making it mandatory for people to vote gets them take the time to…
Just like I would rather Trump rot in prison than someone take physical action, it would be much more poetic for this shitbag to accidentally shoot himself while giving a lecture on how safe guns are.
The future of the GOP relies on discrediting the FBI enough to keep their base voting red. Everyone and everything that has a stake in the GOP has their backs to the wall and will fight with any means necessary. If that means completely undermining the intelligence community, so be it.
The GOP thinks these kids aren’t old enough to know that they can’t actually change anything. And because of that, they just might.
Like the high schooler vs Marco Rubio. Don’t take the bait, don’t change the subject, and don’t get sucked into the whirlpool of deflections and non answers. Ask the question until you get an answer, no matter how many times you have to repeat it.
“in reality, Democrats can run on common-sense gun regulations and win”
I know it’s wishful thinking, but I’m hoping that the fact a kid almost their age purchased the weapon legally will help combat that argument. If they are old enough to buy it, they are old enough for legitimate opinion about it.
I’m hoping these kids keep doing what they are doing. For the first time I can remember, there is a serious national conversation going on about gun control and solutions (or “solutions” if we are talking about arming teachers) after a mass shooting instead of thoughts and prayers, 3 days of coverage of the victims…
One side thinks the solution is stricter background checks, raising the minimum age of purchase, and banning some forms of automatic weapons or items like bump stocks.
I can’t believe that the “only solution to gun violence is more guns” idea not only exists in the mainstream, but it’s probably the #1 GOP talking point. It’s fucking mind boggling.
