In this case all it meant was she was no longer arresting. They didn’t announce her regaining consciousness and they didn’t begin surgery, which were both bad signs. I’m sorry you got more hope from it than you should have, but it was a statement from her family not her doctors so I didn’t lean on it myself.

Unfortunately I was pretty sure she wasn’t going to make it. “Stable” doesn’t mean she’s still there, it just means they’re able to maintain her heartbeat and respiration. The amount of time she was reportedly not breathing and/or without a pulse was enough in most cases to cause brain death.

I wouldn’t be that

You don’t recover from not breathing for ten minutes. Especially not at age 60. At best she would have been brain dead and on life support. But when I heard that she didn’t breathe for ten minutes on the plane, I knew that was it.
