I'm very impressed with what you have done here. It is obvious to me that you have at least looked at the same reference materials as Colin Woodward, if you have not read his book. I would be impressed to see more of what you have to offer.

It took me seeing it the second time, to realize that this was effectively a Hope/Crosby "Road" picture. 'Tis the presentation of "Side-by-side" that does it.
