I knew it was coming and he still got me twice. Rudd is so charming that you get all invested in the setup and then *bam* he lays the Mac down!
A very specific, very focused form of proto-Rickrolling.
Alright, I admit it, I’ve never actually watched the Emmys. I just wanted to be, you know, a big shot.
“Fight, fuck, flee" with the police was pretty funny though.
Good heavens, she’d have to go back to her old job of - let’s see - being the daughter of a rich set of actors in LA.
I also wish I was in a position to complain about my dream job
You know for once in these comment sections could we not have some white assholes talking over PoC when it comes to colorism among their community and shouting “Teh Left is Canibalizing Itself!!!!?!!!” when the topic of colorism is even brought up? It’s not a new discussion, it’s just a discussion that’s becoming more…
It’s a long time ago - I’m older than you guys - but John Mellencamp began his career as “Johnny Cougar” and was laughed at constantly back in the Seventies. Then he changed his name, kept at it, and was eventually a very respected, award-winning artist. He seemed like a totally different person after a while.
Maybe I am just old but it just sounds over produced and generic. Its better then “Friday” but I think the only reason we are even talking about this is because Friday was such a cultural shit show and its like “He look, now she doesn’t completely suck”
I felt like that episode was heavily colored though a revisionist lens (as is this article). One of the reasons Friday was such an object of derision was the way it was basically a vanity project bought by her parents to try to break her into the entertainment industry.
“Clapton is god” was likely written by some English art school studen who had never heard of Son House, Hubert Sumlin or Lightnin’ Hopkins.
This sucks. And hurts. My father loved Clapton. Worshiped at his alter of guitar playing to the point of handcrafting his own amp to duplicate the amp Clapton used on the legendary John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers album. Owned multiple Strats, of course. Could play pretty much any Clapton solo note for note.
Fuck him anyway. Never felt that “Clapton is God” stuff made sense. He’s good, but in a robot-programmed-for-the-blues kind of way.
You know.
I never remotely understood why some progressives liked her. Reading about her opinion of Bashir Assad was enough to make me loath her. Saying Oliver Stone is a great hero, complaining about PC culture and voting against trans rights was just more evidence.
The best description I ever heard of Joe Rogan is that he’s like a time-traveling 18th century European emperor. He’s incredibly demanding of his guests and asks a bazillion entitled questions, but he’s also massively gullible and immediately believes literally anything they tell him.
“point that the school needed better security to protect the kids from a mass shooting.”
General reminder that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a brilliant tour de force of a film that is far more subtle (and invasively at that) than people give it credit for.
See it, if you haven’t (this goes for errybody). It will stick with you.
I like the phrase “A24 horror” even if the movie isn't actually distributed by them. It's a sub genre of horror, not really better or worse than other forms of horror, but it's a very distinctive thing.
