How interesting. They laid off 800 people last March so they could restructure and focus on the right projects https://kotaku.com/ea-layoffs-jobs-andrew-wilson-profits-electronic-arts-1850281078. I’m sure this time the restructuring will work and that it has nothing to do with giving more money to execs or stock

I cannot, for the life of me, understand what on earth would lead them to cancel a Respawn Star Wars FPS. The Jedi games (licensed) have sold well, Titanfall (original) didn’t. Why would a genre they have excelled at (FPS) with a license that has sold games (Star Wars) not be a shoo-in? It’s absolutely possible it was

Ah yes, a fulfillment of the plan to “pivot away from licensed IP” towards...Iron Man, Black Panther, and a Star Wars Jedi sequel...?

Default as an insult is good... real good.

Its all the things -

It’s funny - i should have realized this when I had skins from when Fortnite launched - as in the co-op against the world part. I played with my son and his friends and they were in awe because I had what are apparently high end skins that are almost impossible to get now? I don’t know but I got street cred with them

“Do you WANT your kids to be scrubs*??”

For me it was also sneakers, Nike specifically. I wore Payless-branded ProWings until I could buy my own Nikes. Junior high is eternally brutal.

then it moved into sneakers.

Shit, it’s been gel pens and those dumb “silly band” things that supposedly looked like characters but were more abstract than constellations are. As long as it is a thing that some people’s parents won’t buy them, it can be a status symbol for kids.

It was jeans when I was a kid and then it moved into sneakers.  I know it was sportswear for a while.  This is just the latest in the status symbol cycle.

As someone who still has to hear remarks about not sending blue texts to people, I am the farthest from suprised.

It’s funny cause they’re basically being mocked for not doing something that is incredibly stupid.

If you’re not buying your kids the battlepass do you even really love them?

I can confirm I’ve heard my niece and her friends use the term “Default” as an insult, and they explained it was insulting someone who uses default skins in F2P games.

anecdotal, but yeah.

My daughter was telling me about how people pick on you in Roblox for not having paid for avatar pieces and what not. I’ve played it with her using a very default looking appearance and it does appear there is some disdain for people who don’t buy into it.

This is definitely one piece of Youth Speak that drives me up the damn wall the second I hear it. Toss it in an article, sure. As a headline it just feels off.

Vibes; the word you are looking for is vibes.

Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?

The phrase “___ is giving ___” is a way to say something resembles or has the same feeling as something else.
