Yeah, I think it would be fair to say that Australia doesn't have the same view on blackface as America or even Britain. Which is probably why Harry Connick Jr had that awkward moment on "Hey hey It's Saturday" having to judge a 5 man blackface tribute to the Jackson 5.

The Simpsons is so tethered to a certain time period in my mind that I honestly get weirded out when I see smartphones and flat screen televisions on the show.

It's funny that you mention CSI, because the "CSI Effect" is the term used to describe the way Juries have had their expectations of criminal investigation informed by the show, namely they expect the level of forensic science involved in the average investigation to be much higher than it actually is. I do love the fact that the Stark men all speak with gruff Northern Accents, while the Stark women speak with slightly posh voices. Bran and Rickon speak with posh accents, which leads me to suspect that all the Stark boys gain their Northern accents with the onset of puberty.
