Every day we take one step closer to "Ass: The Movie".

I honestly used to hate these things. I have an intense sense memory of being at a family gathering at the age of 4 or 5 and seeing them all laid out on a plate and being made to try one, and then being violently ill as all I could taste was ammonia.

We'll see who gets more honey! BZZZZZ!

The Last of Us also has a killer ending "Okay".

Nothing lasts. I’m gonna be dead one day. So will the internet. So will Earth. Eventually, physicists currently believe, the universe will achieve thermodynamic equilibrium, at which point no work of any kind, by any definition, will be possible any longer. So it’s all rather futile, really.

Oh for sure. But as the old saying goes, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Okay, let's look at the way the government clearly had loads of money and resources to devote to the Tylenol Murders and the outbreak of Legionnaire's disease. This decision was made primarily due to the people who were affected and the way it was reported in the media. The simple act of denying funding to the CDC and

Right, and what Shilts states in his book is that even once it was discovered the government and various institutions still failed to do anything about it.

I've heard good things about that film, I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks!

Well, it's not as if people weren't saying these things at the time too. I have merely repeated what Randy Shilts wrote in "And The Band Played On" which was published in 1987. He was also actively reporting on all these issues as a journalist at the time and had begun researching the book in 1983. So, this isn't

I think Shilts also took a lot of grief from the gay community too because he supported the bathhouse closures. There was definitely a genuine concern that hard fought gay rights would be rolled back on the pretext of containing a disease.

I'd argue that as a portrait of the way in which it tracks the progress of the disease and provides an insight into the way various institutions were unable to halt its progress, it's indispensable. If something worse than HIV/AIDS ever comes along, we'd all benefit from giving it a read.

I didn't argue that AIDS could have been avoided and neither does Shilts in his book. I think perhaps that my use of the word "plague" might suggest that I mean the disease itself, when really I'm referring more to the fact that it became a full blown pandemic.

I'd recommend reading Randy Shilts' "And The Band Played On" for a book about the discovery of AIDS, its impact on gay culture and the failures of various institutions to contain it. It's a sad, sobering read and really does make you realise how terrifying it must have been to be living through a modern day plague,

Please don't delete this post, as it really is a story that people should read.

Seriously. Nightswimming is "bad" but they were able to put up with Shiny Happy People and, presumably, Radio Song???
