Once they decided to put out the press release on a Tuesday rather than just before the weekend, her candidacy was toast.

I’ll admit it’s been at least a decade since I last watched the second movie, but I hope the third has a scene as freaked out as the one where Bill is chased by a huge creepy bunny. Aside from all the scenes with Death, that one is unforgettable.
Never forget that, while S&S dropped him for being pro-pedophilia, they were 100% on board with him being neo-Nazi. Simon & Schuster could not throw money at Nazi fast enough.
You may be a king or a little street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with the Reaper...
So the remark about there being no claim that would “not [be] preempted by the Copyright Act” basically means that she’s simply bringing the wrong kind of infringement suit? The Deadline article says she’s suing for infringement under the Lanham Act, which covers trademarks, when she apparently should be suing under…
Any British movie that isn’t a James Bond movie takes ages to be released in the US.
I don’t think there was a hidden meaning. Just that Paula’s over all the hijinks. She wants to be a lawyer and part of her is pulling away from Rebecca’s dysfunction.
I noticed her abruptness but agree with So You’re a Tiger. Rebecca wanted to keep talking but Paula had other things to do that were more important (finals). I was relieved as I felt on edge all episode about Paula getting busted and losing out on her law school dream.
That very good analysis. Me think Star Wars have similar problem, but with legitimate non-canon side stories. There were dozens of novels dealing with further adventures of Luke/Han/Leia (spoiler: in nearly every single one, new evil rises that had been conveniently sidelined during previous adventures, and then our…
If Saru dies, we mutiny.
I think it’s just sort of an eye-roll at the concept that we have this big, wide Federation of Planets with a fleet of ships, each with a talented crew all doing manner of important, groundbreaking work on the very bleeding edge of science and exploration, but somehow it still all leads us back to the Enterprise,…
Bravo. It is the best season 1 Trek has had since TOS.
Me pretty sure some people were determined to hate this show from moment they saw production stills, and not let actual show get in way of their opinion.
Thank you! Me sick of fans who came into Disco with axe to grind insisting it not hold up against perfect, flawless gems that are previous iterations of Star Trek. We love Trek, but even best of it is plagued by bad writing, cheesy overacting, and wild inconsistency. That we love it anyway is testament to how strong…
Me not have problem with that at all — me like that show not mimic every other Trek show by focusing on characters in order of rank. That being said, me do like bridge crew as supporting cast, and me not wonder if, with several of this season’s leads out of picture, they not get more time next year.
NOTHING CAN EVER CHANGE! SHOW MUST BE SLAVISHLY DEVOTED TO BUDGETARY RESTRICTIONS OF CHEAPLY-MADE SHOW FROM 50 YEARS AGO OR IT NOT REAL STAR TREK!!!!!!
I wonder how Discovery will hold up in the future as a legacy so since it’s so serialized. I’m enjoying it, but will I be able to just jump into any given episode in the future and rewatch it. (I have a similar problem with other serialized shows like Lost.) I wouldn’t mind seing more standalone episodes next season…
Seriously, considering the fan base that acts like Simpson’s “comic book guy” (it isn’t good because it isn’t the way I expect and demand it to be), I don’t know why any producers would even want to bring a new Star Trek to the screen.
Having them speaking Klingon only on their ship makes sense, but I have to admit I miss the sneering delivery of English lines from older series, bragging to Picard about how hard Klingon beds are and whatnot. The choppy, flat tone they use when speaking Klingon doesn’t have the same magic.
No, I agree - the behaviour of the Klingons isn’t terribly inconsistent, in my opinion.
