I was convinced that The Americans would end in tragedy. Instead, it ended on one of the happiest endings for this type of show-Philip and Elizabeth are back in Moscow, and they have each other. And it worked so well. Bravo.

Plus, we all know what can happen when CW shows give in to shippers.

Yeah, the annual ‘Let’s watch Raven in excruciating pain’ scene was my only problem with the episode.

This show is in a perpetual sophomore slump.

I’d be fine with them ditching overarching plots completely. Or changing the episode order. Or new writers. Or anything else besides the current format that really isn’t working.

An ‘A’ for The Americans is “The Deal”, “Stingers”, “The Magic of David Copperfield V: The Statue of Liberty Disappears”, “Dyatkovo”, etc. The bar is awfully high.

I’m glad the season is almost over. Not because I don’t like it (it’s been fantastic), but because I think I’d have a heart attack if it went on for much longer
