Writing a suitor into a dickhead corner is sort of a pattern running through Gilmore Girls. Dean was great until Jess showed up and they didn't need him anymore.

Makes me wonder what Amy and Dan's relationship is like, because they've got some weird ideals on display throughout the show.

Digger is fine, he just wasn't a good match for Lorelai. I don't get the hate for him either.
It's the same for Logan. I *hate* him, but he was a great match for Rory when they met because at that point Rory sucks just as much as he does.

Actually yes. The guy wasn't entirely there. And he'd pitched a story that ends with "Roseanne's sister" flying around the room. And someone, in disbelief says something like "you want Jackie to do WHAT?" and the writer says "who Jackie?"

It's a writers room joke. There's a whole story behind it and this guy they hired who had no idea who the character was.
