Funny thing is I have owned numerous M cars (e36 m3, e46 m3, mz3 & mz4 coupes etc) and have a ton of seat time in all the M5's and newer M3's including the F80 & G80 versions. Well, according to google and some forum digging the dry weight of the long blocks are 39lbs lighter in the VR’s favor. The turbos, plumbing, and intercoolers brings 57lbs to the party resulting in a net 15lb gain for the VR30DDTT over the VQ37.

Except to ever use the lower screen you have to look down at it, whereas with buttons and dials you could do it by feel, without averting your attention from the road.
