This.  Loved my MkV.  APR tune bought me another year, but...  it was just trying to be excellent at everything, and thus was only very good at everything.  That’s not a bad thing - only allowed one car?  Top of my list (or the Golf R) - because it’s VERY good at everything.  But it’s not excellent or exceptional at

Definitely depends on the car.  My BMW it’s perfect from the factory.  My Camaro, it needed to be tweaked a little less sensitive and is now perfect (they had to reset it for a firmware update a while back, and THAT was fun times).

That all depends on how often you need them. The problem with winter tires is an assumption that there is a transition between “warm/summer” and “cold/winter” - there are lots of places where that transition either doesn’t sanely exist, or happens... well, dozens of times a year. Not everywhere is Buffalo NY, or north

This.  I run on almost-snows (heck, they make them with the mountain and M+S ratings now) on an AWD BMW because snow/not-snow here can be impossible to predict 9 months of the year.

This would about do it.  I’d strongly consider swapping the ZL for it.

382 in the AMG CLA/GLAs?  Depends on “mass produced”.

Sure, but that’ll matter in...  50 years?  At current turnover rates?  Minus ones limited by historical markers/etc...

Thank God for a wife that has back issues.  She kept me all over back exercises for the last 11 years to avoid that!

Don’t shop at scumlots :(

Definitely on the list, now that I remember it!

If I didn’t live where I live, that’d be an option - but I got rid of my NB Miata for good reasons (including the fact that it was a 3 month of the year car).  Good choice if you’re somewhere you can use it regularly though!

Oh god no. I’m at altitude - I don’t do N/A cars anymore, and this would be a daily - not a June-August toy. I’ve already got one of those (ZL1) - so FWD or (preferably) AWD is the way.

Heh. I did the GTI two daily drivers ago - you can’t go wrong with the VWs for that one. Wise choice there too, as is the Mini for the “lols” right now. But yeah - I’m looking for the same thing, but less grown up I think. I want that giggle, a stick, and I don’t need to act grown up for a few years - because after

I’ve got a ZL1 or a Mustang or Challenger would be on the list. The ZL1 will never leave the stable unless I swap it for something silly and insane (Lambo or Ferrari :p). Good choice! Great way to go out.

Most people still need a daily driver, unfortunately - or one far more capable than a Corvette (and I daily drove a C5 for a while). This gives you options. If you want AWD - Golf R or WRX, or upgrade to the BMW / Audi lines. RWD options on BMW too (or Stinger).

That’s a WRX.

Ain’t no one but a dozen folks buying an SUV with a stick :(  Admit it - most of the folks buying a Kona N either wanted the nicest (expensivest) one, or ...  made a mistake.

They’ve sounded like that since the beginning.  It’s a WRX.  Back then, if you wanted a real door, you bought a Legacy.  And if you wanted a REAL door, you bought ...  a BMW?  Audi?

Do we have any details on the STI yet?

I do wonder on this. I don’t disagree with the core point at all, but I wonder if we’re missing a point too. You’re right - I’m the FnF crowd (I was late in high school when that came out), and about to hit 40... and I know my next car will be my last new ICE purchase. I currently drive a M550, and it’s the best “car”
