Yep. I’m a huge fan of REALLY good almost-snow all-seasons for daily drivers.  Mine and my wife have the same tires now - and on AWD BMWs, they do great for summer and winter, unless it’s stupid icy (in which case, stay home).  

Oh I did a full 360 on the interstate, slid over two lanes (center to far left), and managed to come to a stop in the shoulder about 2" from the jersey barrier. I also, somehow, did not poop myself. This is only true if you don’t have traction control, and I’ve had it happen (2001 Firebird Formula with summer tires).  Hit water, rears spun, around we go!  

This really depends on the tire. There are really 3 kinds of all seasons -

Road doesn’t stop at 12,100 - Trail ridge blows past 14k, so do quite a few others. That’s still 37% down from peak before tacking on the additional altitude and heat changes. Density Altitude is a function of heat and altitude above sea level.

To start and make clear - I don’t think the Z06 is a bad car, or the C8 in general. I’m disappointed, because the original rumors were exactly what I wanted - and then they changed it (or the rumors were outright wrong), and the result is something I do not want. That makes me sad. Not really that fast.  I have a ZL1.  At the top, it’s making sub 250hp - it’s not quick anymore.  Still sounds good, but that’s it. 

My M550 is getting older - depending on when it suddenly gets “weird” and expensive, an EV is high on my list to replace it.  I4 M50, Taycan (CPO), Lucid...  watching carefully.  The ZR1 if it’s what they say (turbo+hybrid) I’d be stupid excited - but not at my expected price point of 120+.  AT that point, I’ll just…

That’s why I lament that the original rumors weren’t true.  I was ready to sell the current toy and put down a deposit, but...  :( 

Lord no. If anything I’d be debating between a 911 Turbo used, or a new Supra, depending on what happens to the market overall in the next year or so, and I’m a millennial.

True- which is why I said it’s not for me; I’m mostly lamenting that the earliest rumors (TT DOHC V8) were not true, because that WOULD have been the car for me.  

Density altitude.  It’s not even close to 670HP - it’s closer to 450 at my house, and goes down much farther from there.  I’m literally less than an hour from Pikes Peak.  

Ah.  Doesn’t happen that way much here.  Heck, Bandimere is at 5800 Ft- you’re down over 20% power here without forced induction just at the crank.  On a cold day.  Density altitude there has easily crossed 7k ft before in July and August.  

Allow me to rescope that for you. An N/A motor making 450HP that drops to around 250hp near the top, but revs to 8500RPM. Or I could just take my 7 year old M550, which makes 450 at my door, 450 at the base, and 450 at the top - but doesn’t spool now till 2500 RPM instead of 2000... Again, lag isn’t a thing anymore -…
