While Dune was its own special type of not-so-great movie, Lynch’s decision to direct “Dune” instead of “Return of the Jedi” had a wonderful and legendary outcome of the partnership of Lynch and Kyle McLaughlin. What wonderful things those two gave us over the years!

Phoenix’s interpretation could be really great though. What I saw in this short clip was a deeply injured and mentally ill person that appears homeless in his attire. Other film versions don’t delve too much into the obviously injured and diseased psyche that shows a layered soul, and how that plays into his evil acts.
