Okay, I started writing this about halfway through the first paragraph of your article, when one of the ads crashed the page and reloaded, and I still haven’t changed what I was going to say after reading the whole thing:
I’m hoping the outcome will be as wholesome as you predict it to be. Being the Internet, it can swing either way.
My wife and I enjoyed watching Kung Fu and it was clear they were expecting this. As much as I would have enjoyed watching the Shen Family doing its thing the writing was on the wall and I can only be happy that we got the three seasons we did.
Which makes it all the more ironic, right? But then again, there are probably many people on/behind the screen that have a disconnect between the things they say/do, right?
Even Leon character finds it cringey, and that’s what saved it for me. He very specifically makes sure it never goes beyond platonic because he knows it’s wrong. Which is more than can be said for the director, a fact I only learned much later in life.
To be fair, I imagine all that is entirely plausible, and it’s entirely possible he came across racist cops and a crooked DA. However, none of that means that he didn’t abuse a woman, and given the “evidence” his defense lawyer thought was exculpatory sounds very much like a victim of abuse apologizing to their…
I think I just discovered third puberty. (Second puberty was hearing Sia singing on Zero 7's “Destiny.”)

He was this close to having the world eating out of the palm of his hand. How is “don’t do abusive asshole things” such a high bar to clear, particularly with the kind of money he could be making at stake?!
Hey, we Asian-Americans are also mostly identified by continent rather than geographical explicitness as well. I’d think that the primary issue is that because of the slave trade it is nearly impossible to identify which part of the continent any individual can trace themselves to.
let’s not forget the loyal best friend back home—in this case, Jenny (a winsome Sophia Nomvete)—whom you just know will turn up later
It’s actually “Lou the 9th-14th,” you uncultured sow.
Surprisingly it worked for me. Maybe because I was expecting it.
