X-Men the Animated Series is up there for me. It introduced me to all the classic X-Men comic arcs before I actually was reading X-Men.

I saw Kingsley’s Mandarin as a Fox News viewer’s worst nightmare: a guy who looks like Bin Laden, dresses like a Mongol warlord, and talks like Noam Chomsky. And of course, he turns out to be too good to be true.

Seriously, not the mention the whole idea of the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 was in fact, to cater to the public’s fear of other so Kilian could own the war on Terror.

While Kingsley’s (false) Mandarin was markedly toned-down in terms of his overall Fu Manchu-ness, he was still presented as an alcoholic, drug-using lout for comedic effect, placing him squarely in caricature territory all the same.  

Wait... Trevor Slattery was the caricature of a character and was clearly just a British actor, not an Asian “Fu Manchu” type. Did we see the same Iron Man 3?
