This is one of those moments where the phrase “class war” becomes as literal as it can get. It’s also the moment where the governing class’ typical strategy to deflect from class warfare (namely, divide and conquer) becomes as transparently obvious as it can be.

Smoking on the set? WTF? I love GU and am glad she’s calling out the casual racism and sexism that privileged white dudes get away with on the regular, not to mention the fucking stone cold narcissism of knowingly breaking a law and not giving a rat’s ass about other people.

If she had just admitted what she did, made a sincere apology (or literally even sincere sounding fake apology) and plead guilty months ago, she would have already served her sentence (or, more likely, not have had to serve her sentence in jail AT ALL because of Covid-19), and could have started her comeback already.

I don’t think she voted for Trump at all, and it dangerous to automatically equate racism with political affiliation. I also think that she honestly, truly believes she isn’t racist. She is of course - but I’m sure she’s the typical example of a white person who votes for the right people, “has black friends” yet

I’m submitting this piece for a Pulitzer.

This is weird to me, because why would so many production companies cover for a DP on a show that’s not really known for groundbreaking visuals? How hard could it be to replace a DP on a show that had its house style locked from the pilot?

I said it before, and I’ll say it again: if this were 1940, these motherfuckers would guarantee that the Axis powers would win.

“should self quarantine for 14 days if they have any compassion for others”

I think we’ve all pretty much already figured out that “compassion for others” is not a thing these people are interested in.

Remember, Trump’s base loves him because he hits the people they want to hit, like families of combat veterans and women who die of tragic accidents.

Twitter/Jack Dorsey have been absolutely appalling in their response to this. Her grieving parents and widower are being re-traumatized while twitter shrugs . It is disgusting that Trump gets to use his power to manipulate her memory, meanwhile those who actually have a claim to her memory stand by helplessly.

That’s not the worst apology I’ve ever seen (low bar), but the bit about her privilege blinding her to the fact that for some other groups the police are not just a benign protection agency is patent bullshit. She makes a point of saying to this guy that she is going to call the police and tell them an “African

This comment took an interesting left turn. From “Be wary of white women falsely accusing black men of crimes” to “Let’s not investigate a white woman accusing a white man of something that he has already been known due to do and of something for which she has some corroborating evidence even though a failure to

Whatever floats your boat, but even if this kid is made of money and never works a day in his life, you’ve made him a joke by doing this shit. I realize names are restricting or you want to be an innovator, but he WILL change his name to something with pronounceable letters when he’s older. And he will hate you.

This has gone from stupid to stupid & boring.

No, you mean a man who went to serve in Afghan partly to get away from the Press and has a longstanding issue with them for, you know, getting his mother killed might have been the one to want to leave?

I realize that Trump lowered the bar right to the goddamn ground, but we really shouldn’t be happy when the alternative *just* clears said bar.

And yet he still doesn’t get it because he’s vetting Amy and he’s damn proud of it.

If I were a part of Congress right now (HA! Fat chance.) I would be introducing a counter-amendment that would make it okay for law enforcement to eavesdrop on members of Congress without a warrant. All communications of any congresscritter. You know. For national security.  You never know what those guys might be

Sometimes you just have to stand there in your wrongness and be wrong. That might mean telling the truth and dealing with the consequences, or it might mean keeping it to yourself and dealing with that emotional burden. Only you can determine which option is the better one based on the specifics of your relationship

That previous lowest birth rate 35 years ago, came amid a similar zeitgeist. Reagan was president (and slashing social safety nets and healthcare left and right), the cold war was at a peak with universal fear of the irrational buildup of nuclear weapon stockpiles, interest rates were in double digits, and the job
